Worship à At First United Methodist, our Sunday morning worship services are at 8:30, 9:30 and 10:45. Starting June 3, our service times will change to 8:45, 9:00 and 11:00. We glorify God through coming together for worship. We celebrate God’s presence in our lives through word and sacrament, music, pastoral and lay leadership. Our Music Program is led by Dr. Barry Williamson. The New Spirit worship service is led by Barbara Felts. We also have choirs for all ages. We have special seasonal worship opportunities such as Ash Wednesday, Lenten worship, and Advent worship.
Fellowship à At First United Methodist, we care for one another through Christian fellowship. Some areas are: Older Adult Council and Ministries, visitation and support for shut-ins, Stephen Ministry, hospitalization and bereavement care, a prayer chain, grief support groups, a Wednesday Night Meal during the fall and spring months, an annual church picnic, sports teams, college age and young adult ministries, a retired men’s coffee group that meets on Monday mornings at 10:00, United Methodist Men and United Methodist Women. We also value small groups as an important way to grow closer to one another as we grow closer to God.
Discipleship à At First United Methodist, we seek to grow in our faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ through discipleship. We currently have 11 adult Sunday School classes that study a variety of materials. We offer a variety of Disciple Bible Study options, including new 8-week studies of the Old and New Testament and Genesis. Small groups, both short-and long-term, offer opportunities for growth throughout the year. The McCarroll-Castle Library has many resources to help us grow in faith. Through the Name-Your-Ministry form, participants have the opportunity to plug into a ministry that fits their gifts and interests. We offer Financial Peace University on a regular basis.
Missions à At First United Methodist, we seek to go into the community and world to serve in Christ’s name through mission. Our annual Great Day of Service is a new tradition where teams go through Hopkinsville and serve various organizations in Christ’s name. Our Missions Mini-Grant Program provides funds for missions. Our church and its members serve many local and state organizations. |
